three!

a few weeks back we celebrated lane's third birthday. craziness! at times it seems like he's been with us forever, we can hardly remember life before him, and his whole birth seems sooo long ago. but then again, it seems like just yesterday we bounced our colicky baby all hours of the night (and day). everyday when i crawl into his bed i can still see our little baby lane, he looks so much like the baby i cradled and stared at for hours. melt my heart!

for months he's been requesting a MUSTACHE birthday party. yep, a mustache party. although, the last few weeks he's said GUM BALL. so....we had a (mostly) gum ball party:)

"happy birthday to you. happy birthday to you. happy birthday dear lane. happy birthday to you." we sang it, 3 times? birthday boy gets what he wants for his birthday i guess:)



the boys have LOVED all his cards. they are still looked at daily!

grandpa dave & grandma kay, ryan & heather all made it for his little party. (we just had a little family party.) my parents, grandpa neal & grandma gwen, were planning on coming but they were under the weather...they were missed!

on his ACTUAL birthday we (ok, i did 2, vance did 14) had blown up balloons the night before so when he woke up he'd have a little surprise. somehow i managed to wake up before him and catch his double take in the baby monitor when he first opened up his eyes, priceless!

although in true lane form...the balloons were a "big mess" in his room. we had to organize them and put them into a pile.

gage had more fun with them than the birthday boy.

lane's bestest buddy, sam, came over to share a cupcake and gave him this AWESOME car wash. he looooves it, right down his ally!
for his birthday dinner we kept asking him if he wanted mama to cook supper or if we wanted to go out to eat. he always responded "chic.fil.a" vance & i wanted to do something a little more memorable so we took him to a restaurant where they cook right in front of you (a hibachi). it was a total hit!

we did venture down to the pet store and laughed at the boys "oooing" and "ahhhing"




it was a GREAT day celebrating our THREE year old!

omaha.

first of all, i must apologize. may has come and is nearly gone and i've done little "blogging." this month has been busy, busy, busy. the down time that we have had i just haven't sat down with the computer, other things have been taking up my time!

we're way behind on here. at the beginning of the month we went to omaha to see renee's new little girl penny. it was such a special time!

starting off the trip with mom's famous donuts. lane ate FIVE of them in one sitting.

my parents picked up one of those cars for the kids. you know, the toy you always wanted as a kid. THEY LOVED IT!! at first i was a little scared to let my babies drive off...i chased after them:)

lane is a PRO at driving that thing. he has it all down. he can turn it on a dime, flip in in reverse, and back up without hitting anything. it was sooo funny to watch.

we went out to eat one evening for ice cream with all the cousins. as always, a great time!
