ferry family christmas.

we had such a great Christmas week with the ferry side and this coming week we will be in kansas for the reimer side. it was so good to all be together. there were so many good laughs and so many pictures taken that its hard to choose which ones are the best. i cannot adequately write out how special this time was.

despite vance and i being overly stressed, sleep deprived, and having a week full of ups and downs we realized in the quiet moments holding lane in the glow of the Christmas tree that we are blessed beyond belief and God has a (huge) plan for our little family. it's hard to be discouraged when you have a smiling baby looking into your eyes. lane has given us more this Christmas than any gift ever can give by just being him.

"and it is, after all, a season for babies. it makes sense to me in a new way that God chose to wrap his divinity in baby bones and baby skin. i always thought maybe it was to demonstrate vulnerability, or to identify fully with each phase of humanity, but now i think it was something else. i think it was because babies make us believe in the possibility and power of the future. it's genius that the Christ, the Messiah, came as baby, not because of his helplessness, but because of the possibility every baby holds. we have a regular baby, a non-Christ, non-Messiah baby, and when i look at his sleeping face, all the world seems NEW and POSSIBLE."

december 19, 2008

last year we had these sweet little pictures of lane taken. oh, the hours we spent starring at these. at this appointment the doctor said little baby (now we know as a he) was around 15 ounces. now we have a little boy almost 22 pounds and moving all around. its seriously amazing how things change in one year...what will december 19, 2009 bring?

...now off to wrap christmas gifts! tomorrow morning we're having our first reimer family christmas. ho ho ho :)

denver, co, usa.

this past weekend we went for a whirlwind trip to denver. we were so busy to take pictures of anything outside so all we have to show for is hotel pics. besides being insanely hectic and mildly (ha) stressful it was -14 degrees out. too cold!

i started off with the cotton candy lollipop and then lane decided he wanted some of the yummy goodness. oooh boy.

chapped cheeks.

what else do you do in the hotel besides hang upside down?

hotel pool fun.

after the big bath tub lane was perfectly content just sitting all wrapped up. cold? or maybe we made him tired for the first time....i'm guessing cold.

baby, its cold outside.

we forgot lane's hat the other day when we were out and about so lane wore mom's. vance didn't approve of this girly wear on his boy.

scandalous.

lane now takes a bottle. ok, not at all. but he did snuggle up to this water bottle for nap time.

this past week.

this past week was trying to recover from being way too full over thanksgiving and attempting to get out the of "after holiday slump" it is always so hard to face real life after having a fun weekend. now we have Christmas to look forward to. 16 days left of shopping!

this week we finally got lane to the dr for his snotty nose and extra gooey eye. we got an antibiotic which is helping but making his system all out of wack. poor little guy. it breaks my heart. we are trying to survive through the 5 exploding diapers a day and soothing his red little bum. here is a pic of his half stuck eye getting his morning medicine. so pitiful looking. :(

vance made a quick trip to el paso, tx for work to visit the border fence project between USofA and Mexico. quite the fence! it was only a 48 hour trip but we were sooo ready to have him home!

while vance was basking in the mexican sun we were home spreading holiday cheer. the Christmas tree is up! lane is fascinated by it. he has heard the word "no" more these past few days then he has his whole life thus far. he even has a baby size tree in his room. :)

in other lane news, he is trying to pull himself up on everything! oh man, he tries soo soo hard. he is changing right before our eyes!

although at the end of the day, he still is our little baby. this is one of our most favorite faces, all full of milk.
