her birthday.

thinking about today has put a big lump in my throat for months, her first birthday.   how can she be ONE?!   it seems like it was just yesterday that we held her in our arms for the first time, what a precious day it was, it is by far up there with some of the sweetest moments of my life.  on the eve of her first birthday vance and i stayed up till 1 am looking at pictures of her & the kids throughout the past year.   wow, we have three kids and wow, we have a little girl...a year later we're still surprised!

logan gracie...
you fit into our family so well.
it's like you were meant to be here.
and you were!
God knew what he was doing when he gave us you.
you are a peanut.
weighing in at a whole 17lbs.
you're a beauty.
people are always commenting on your red hair and blue eyes.
of course, your smile just adds to your beauty.
we pray God always uses your beautiful smile to bring joy & warmth to those around you.
at 12 months you walk quite a bit but still crawl lots.
at 12 months you have 4 teeth & two more trying to pop through.  (hence your tongue always feeling your top teeth.)
and at 12 months you still take 2 naps and struggle to sleep at night. (sigh.)
you love your brothers and recently discovered daddy is more than alright, he gets the best smiles from you.
you are one.
my oh my.
love you sweetie pie.

bless her little self, she's never had sugar.   she loved it...and then threw it all up, looovely.
and oh yeah, can you tell she's the THIRD child.   she got a sugar cookie on her birthday, a CHRISTMAS sugar cookie.   in my defense, she will have a "party" with a cupcake in a few days...

we even got to FaceTime with the ferry-side of the family and sing happy birthday all together.    yes, there were tears by me:)

christmas pageant.

last week lane's preschool had their little christmas performance.   they had been practicing since october and its been so cute to hear him sing "and heaven and nature sing..." under his breathe while playing around the house.   they sang three songs: "o christmas tree", "joy to the world", and "i'm a little christmas tree" (to the tune of i'm a little teapot).

he sorta sang...
but mostly yawned.   seriously.  he yawned about 50 times up there.  guess he was bored?  nervous habit?
 typical lane.
 waving hi to us:)
 yawning again...
and not doing any actions.   thats my boy:)

phone dump.

somehow these pics got put in all out of order which typically drives me nuts but tonight i'm much too tired to switch all around.   sorry!

today i took logan to the dr b/c all she has done for the past few days is fuss, cry, & not sleep.  i was convinced it was her ears.   nope, they look "gorgeous."   on a whim, i took asked if i could take advantage of the dr & have her peek in gage's ears.   double ear infection.  what?!?  he has been the easiest kid lately, not one fuss!
he asked me, "hey mom, will you handsome-up my hair for me?"
 watching some morning cartoons.
he got his clothes on by himself and gave himself a big thumbs up.
covering up daddy with his blankie during sunday naps.
 mmmm, beans.
 tired girl at church.
i bought this dress when she was a few weeks old on clearance with thanksgiving day in mind.   don't ya know i completely forgot about it till a few days ago.
the sides of her hair need to grow!
 loving water.
 her first piggy tails:)
i sent this picture to renee to show her what sweatshirt i was talking about.   she said, "logan is so little"      i only notice our matching hair.
fighting a cold.   he insisted on our bed & the heating pad.  just like his mama.
 scrunch.
christmas pageant at school.   he saw himself in the mirror and said, "i look awesome!"
his favorite friends caleb & ceilidh came to watch him preform.
early morning tree gazing with the babe.   don't you love christmas lights in the morning?   one of my favorites!
i woke her up from her nap, she was refusing to wake up.
 fun!
 post bath hair.
gagers doing his favorite things...staying in his pjs all day & playing trains.
logan is always giving baby weston kisses on their christmas card.
a few weeks back lane and i went on a special outing, just us two.   he loved it, i loved it.   such a cherished time with the man that made me a mama & melts me to the core.

he was pretty pumped they wrote his name on his cup.   he still has the cup upstairs in his bedroom.
decorating giant gingerbread men with caleb & ceilidh.

 goof.

 happy boy.
 christmas girl.
we did the little christmas tree this year.  i love it, ha.   christmas decorations start giving me anxiety from clutter after a while...for right now, i'm totally ok with minimal decor.   lane has asked if he'll still get presents even if they don't fit under our tree.
how she likes to sit in shopping carts.   looking out to the world:)   don't let this picture fool ya, she doesn't drink milk...at all.
i obviously can't get enough pictures of her sleeping.

driving home from nebraska.  yep, thats about what nebraska looks like in winter...grey.
at grandma & grandpa ferry's house.   lane loves this blue guitar.  he says that when he gets older grandpa is going to give it to him.
 morning.
shopping during nap time one afternoon.  the best!!
the omaha children's museum.    they were doing their own face paint, lane said, "i need a mustache."
gage sitting in time out at the museum.    (i spy, penny...)

breakfast.
baby girl in the baby doll stroller.
driving to nebraska from kansas.   he couldn't take it any longer.   passed out.

this is how he sat for 99% of the car ride, headphones on & holding a picture of one of his favorites, uncle wayne.
 sleepy car rides.
at walmart in dodge city kansas.
 gum ball at el charros.
on an afternoon run in kansas.   flat!
getting candy from santa in meade.

much happier with grandpa!
 lane with uncle ryan.
 she LOVES her baby doll.
back at home...shorty.   when the boys were her age they could easily reach the door knob.
