saturday: lane wasnt happy at home so we decided lets just GET OUT of the house and get some fresh air. we had never been to boulder so we packed a picnic, loaded the car, and headed out. we stopped in downtown boulder to look around. he refused to walk on his own so vance and i took turns holding our 25lb heavy weight. lane and i shared a smoothie. (thank you anna for the bday gift:) we then headed for a drive in the mountains hoping lane would take a nap...ha, we were wrong! it was GORGEOUS! we may miss the flat lands of the midwest but when you see such amazing sights you can't help but think its pretty awesome to live so close. we made some random stops to get out and walk around. at first lane wasn't so sure of the cold water and then he would have jumped in it if we would have let him. we were just happy to get some smiles!
walking around, i noticed my shadow has changed!
"hmmm, no cars"
"ooo, hey car, look at my belly button!"
diaper changes outside are the best. fresh air!
relaxed.
sunday: once again, we had to get lanester out of the house in an attempt to make him happy. walking along a trail near our house...
i'm constantly amazed that you walk just on ROCK. you don't find that very often in nebraska.
monday: the other day after our dreaded monthly trip to wal-mart, i was feeling icky. needed food fast. so i did the healthiest thing possible and drove through wendys to get a hamburger. i sat in the back with lane to give him a few bites. instead he ate 99% of my food. all of a sudden between bites he started to close his eyes. i guess he ate himself tired:)
tuesday: we've been working on using utensils by yourself. he thinks he's big stuff.
wednesday: a year ago today i found the little man had played himself to sleep. oh how i miss those baby days! (and yes, spit up is right next to him. totally lane.)
today i peeked in on him napping and just as a year ago my heart melted. he loves his blankie! i don't want to forget these days, even if they are hard. (and yes, that is a spatula in bed with him.)
...we're praying for a "better" lane the rest of the week. today he's been more himself. a sign of good to come...yes!
