eye dr.

this morning was a tough one. i keep taking deep breathes that "whew, we're ok. he's ok" the day after lane was born we noticed his left eye was gooey and watery. they told us in the hospital that it was a blocked tear duct and should heal within a few weeks. at his 2 month, 6 month, 9 month appointments they said it should be healed by his first birthday. well, here we are a month and half away from his first birthday and it hasn't healed, possibly (much) worse. we finally decided to go to pediatric ophthalmologist. they checked his vision (how they do it in a baby, i still don't know), dilated his eye, and dyed his eyes. good news, eyes totally healthy but yes there is a blocked tear duct. so, today they probed his tear duct. it was minimally invasive but hard to watch our little boy cry so hard. just thinking of the three minutes he was strapped down and screaming makes me start crying all over again. we have been so blessed by such a healthy and vibrant little boy, a tear duct is so simple, you feel bad complaining his eye is always so messy. great news!!...the doctor said he could feel the membrane popped when he cleaned it out so we may be goo free from now on. how awesome would that be?! this procedure is 80% effective so we're very anxious to see. (otherwise they would do a surgery and he'd go under anesthesia, which we don't want) as soon as they unstrapped the restraints he stopped crying and held tight to mom. i never knew i could love someone so much.

blessing:
procedure went great!

prayer:
quick healing.

eyes all dilated but still being a wiggle worm. opening, closing, and eating books.

waiting and waiting for the doctor. we enjoyed the disney movies they had playing.

afterwards..."you mean i could be gooey eye free? yippee!!"

i told lane he could have whatever he wanted today just because i feel sorry for him. he's probably going to milk it for all its worth.

aunt renee.

aunt renee came to denver for a very fast 24, much needed, hours. not quite sure who was more excited to have her in town...lane or me. me!! we are used to seeing each other everyday for the past 24 years so 3 weeks is an eternity. the only thing missing...dana! i love my sisters, thank you for being my best friends.

every thursday (renee's day off) we'd go shopping. so we do what we know to do...go to the mall. (we're such girls, poor lane) as we were winding down our shopping excursion lane was starting to get fussy. renee walked up by him and he held his hand to her. they walked hand and hand down the mall with lane smiling so big and kicking his feet with glee. he was so proud to walk his auntie through the mall. i love this picture...

c and r.

lane wasn't feeling a family picture.

grandma r.

grandma kay made a (short) stop in colorado. so fun for her and lane to play together. saying goodbye was a lot easier knowing that we'll see her (plus dave and ryan) again in 2 weeks!

the cleanest he's ever stayed during dinner...ever.

dish towels=easy entertainment for a ten month old.

enjoying a smoothie. more more more!

laundry.

i put the clothes in the dryer and he pulls them out. a game that he likes to play.

fascination.

we have a deep fascination with our son. no matter what he's doing, just by being him.

home from work.

this very well may be lane's most favorite time of day...when daddy comes through the back door. dad's home.

swim.

lane went to his first mommy and me swim class and loved it. constant smiles, giggles, kicking, splashes. a full 45 minutes of happiness.

i didn't have my camera so these were taken with the cell phone after we got out of the pool. look at his little swim trunks...

family.

leo, debby, britney, blake and brooke all came to our house wednesday. it was so much fun. after lane woke up from his nap he was very skeptic on who was in his house. after starring them down each for quite some time he remembered they were the people we always go visit in kansas, so he soon warmed up to them. vance and i both cherish the leo dale reimer family, after spending anytime with them you feel encouraged and better about life and what God is doing in your life. we both have said that we wish we lived closer to them!

so good.

grandpa and grandma ferry came to visit us...scratch that all out.
grandpa and grandma ferry came to visit lane in colorado. we loved having them here in our new home. they helped unpack boxes, get organized, and of course had a healthy dose of adoring lane. it felt so good to have a "family" feel in the house. even more, vance and i both felt like we relaxed for the first time in a long time. lane loved the dogs but they did not return the favor. he full out giggled at them throughout the weekend and so we in turn all giggled too. did i mention how much we enjoyed having them here? because we did. so good.
people we look foward to seeing...
-leo and debby and fam coming to our house on wednesday
-grandma kay coming for the weekend
-grandpa dave, grandma kay and ryan coming in april
-renee coming and getting her hair colored?
-jason and lindsey and shelby coming may 2
-may 16...lane's first birthday. you are all invited!

grandma comes bearing toys.

what a boy.

we went to a small little cafe in castle rock. (so good) lane loved the stuffed buffalo mounted on the wall. he thought it was just too funny and had to touch it...which can be dangerous when he almost pulls it off the wall.

grandma love.

family love.
