finally.

finally updating. every time i've sat down to put some new pictures up, something else always seems to need my attention. this past week has been busy doing lots. everyday we've had something we've had to do or had to go, but thinking back on the week, i can't even remember what they are. lane has been SO much fun lately. everyday is full of laughs. this past week he's been on a napping strike, which can cause for some long days but it hasn't seemed to phase his smiles.

we are continuing with our camera troubles. the camera came back from the manufacturer, not working! my parents let us borrow their camera so i put one of our lenses on it and have been grateful that we've been able to use it. last week, lane climbed on top of the hutch (where i keep the camera) and pulled it down...breaking our lens. so...so far this summer we've broken our camera and two lenses. not super cool or super cheap. back to the point and shoot camera for us! sad sad sad.

we went to go play in the sprinklers. i put lane in a swim diaper, crocs, floppy hat, and then he accessorized with my belt. hah. vance says he looks like "little bo peep."

chaos.

this morning i looked around the kitchen and thought, this is crazy! instead of acting upon many of the things wrong in this picture...i grabbed the camera.
-lane in the dishwasher. a BIG no no!
-he's naked.
-the pan on the stove boiled over. what a mess.
-cabinets open.
-pile of dishes that need to be put away.
-if you could see around my feet, you'd see almost a whole roll of toilet paper that lane unrolled.
-if you could smell, burnt alfredo on the stove and an overwhelming scent of "aspen flower" from the potpourri lane tipped over.

yesterday we headed out to a colorado rockies baseball game. it was...hot. and fun. we had free tickets so we figured that if lane only made it twenty minutes then that's all we'd stay but he was pretty happy the whole time and we ended up staying the whole game!

nap time is the ONLY time i can get anything done these days because of this little fellow...
we went over to the herricks (wagenfuhrs & dykstras) for a bbq and had a great time. it was such a beautiful evening to sit outside and chit chat, laugh, and watch gabby and lane play in the sprinklers. gabby was so cute, she kept calling lane, "ween." what fun ages! typical lane. the drooling has started again, in full force!! what a mess. the best way to describe our one year old right now is a tornado. everywhere he goes he leaves a trail of disaster. it's exhausting, he normally naps just long enough for everything to be cleaned up only for the storm to start again. vance completed the backyard. when the snow melted this spring it reveled a very green clover patch, not grass like we were anticipating. so, for the past few months vance has killed everything, tilled it, put sprinklers in, compost, and SOD! lane now can play in GRASS instead of dirt. woohoo!! lately lane's diet consists of...fruit. it's all he wants to eat. well, bread too:) he got SO excited about the yummy watermelon!
lane LOVES light switches. he seriously looks for them in every room we go in, reaches high, wants us to pick him up. this morning, lane got smart and pushed the step stool so he could reach it himself. oh, that boy!
oh yeah...almost forgot to add this. lane has been pacifier free for a week! after our summer trips we said we'd work on not having a pacifier. he normally only had it in the car or if he was having a hard time falling asleep. well, we cut it cold turkey. much to my relief, i dont think he has even noticed. it's been an easy week...we just haven't gone on any car rides over 10 minutes. :)

home-aha.

we just got back from a week and half long vacation in nebraska. man, it's hard to come back after such great times! how cool is it that we got to see BOTH sides of the family in ONE week? SO FUN! we were able to spend 4th of july weekend in omaha with the ferry side, including jeff and dana! then go to atkinson for andrea's wedding with the reimer side. what a treat! serious good times.
