brothers.

pikes peak.

this past weekend we set out to go do 'something.' well, everyday we wake up seeing pikes peak so why not go to the top (drive, not climb). vance always calls pikes peak the guys name that first climbed it, zebulon, i can never remember so i have renamed it zz top. so we did it, went to the top of zebulon's peak, zz's topper, or whatever you want to call her.

on the way there, there was a moment where both boys were crying and i said "well, i'm not having a good time" vance replied, 'well, i'm not having a good time with both boys crying and my wife upset" and he was right...i needed an attitude change. i'm glad he called me out on it b/c it was a GREAT day with my family.

...we sorta panicked while we were up there. all lane wanted to do was RUN. uhm yeah, running on top of a mountain just doesn't work. but, we did bring a camera for him to play with. he took pictures of EVERYTHING that we took pictures of. it was SO cute, possibly the highlight of my trip.













and this is possibly my most favorite picture of the whole day b/c it SO captures this season in my (and gage's) life. we're in the car...eating and sleeping.

and the whole way down. silence.

on the way home we took the looong way. it was a gorgeous drive but lane was more excited about the green fruit roll-ups.


these boys needed a bath when they got home. bath time cuites...

last week.

last week we spent some time at home in nebraska. felt good, really good. didn't do tons of stuff but thats exactly what we wanted to do. just hang out with mom&dad, renee&tom. let them play with the boys and the boys play with them. it was exactly what we needed, our hearts were happy. so get comfortable, grab a soda, and get some popcorn because this is a looong post of pictures:)

i was SO hoping lane would love the pool. i thought he'd just jump right in. ha, yeah right.
the first day, the closest he'd get to it (with a life vest on) was riding the big wheel around it.

well, we got him on a raft.

all the while, mr gage floated for over an hour with smiles.

bampa can get this kid to eat anything, it's just way more fun.

one night we saw lane getting himself a popcorn ball off the counter, after he gave ginger one. they enjoyed eating them together.

yep, there he is.

we had lots of donuts on this trip. one morning it was just the boys&i there so we went on a little donut date. the next day we met jessica and her girls for donuts. yummy!



and gage must have noticed the goodness we were eating b/c he started eyeing everything we put in our mouths. wait a few more months buddy, mama's not ready to start baby food.

4th of july glow stick equal lots of fun for a 2 year old.

one evening (after going for ice cream) we went for a stroll. in an attempt to wear off some of the sugar i had lane ride the big wheel. he ended up riding it for over a mile and then more when we got back to the house. makes me laugh.



and i can say, i successfully flew with both the boys by myself. the only tears that were shed were by me, saying good-bye is hard.
