my parents watched lane while vance and i went to a movie. it was our first movie in a long long time and yes, we ate a large popcorn...edit that, i ate a large popcorn. lane had so much fun on his first outting without mom and/or dad, dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in colorado and a walk. mom said she thought lane might not have known that we even left, ah gee thanks lane!

a mix of being told to not play in the toliet, not open up the dishwasher, and not bite to mom's toes turned into a big old mess. life's rough.

colorado springs:
we got together with jenni and the adorable maya for a playdate. jenni and i lots of laughs at our little babes. good times!




swimming:
vance went to lane's swimming class the other day. lane's ALL smiles in the pool. he looooves being the in water...splash, kick, jump.

a year ago.

-a year ago today...i was nearly a week overdue and didn't realize i'd have ten more days to go. today...i can't believe in ten days i'll have a one year old.

-a year ago today...i slept in late. today...i woke up to a smiling baby with a dirty diaper.
-a year ago today...i got to wear pants with elastic waists. today...i wish it was socially acceptable for me to wear pants with elastic waists.
-a year ago today...i was readying "ina may's guide to natural childbirth" today...i'm reading something about being a positive mom.
-a year ago today...i googled "natural ways to induce labor" (all of which i was too scarred to try) today...i googled "natural diaper rash creams"
-a year ago today...i got a pedicure with my mom. today...i miss my mom.
-a year ago today...i washed some "little baby's" clothing. today...i pulled lint out of lane's mouth after he decided to eat the dryer filter...

-a year ago today...i thought i'd be pregnant with "this" baby forever. today...i miss being pregnant.
-a year ago today...i woke up multiple times to go use the bathroom during the night. today...i woke up to go check on lane in his sleep.
-a year ago today...i daydreamed in blue and pink. today...i daydreamed that lane would take an afternoon nap.
-a year ago today...i drove with the music loud and windows down because it felt good. today...i drove with the windows down and music loud because lane thought it was fun.
-a year ago today i didn't know all joy that TODAY would be!
...but i still miss my mom.

saturday we had three very anticipated visitors. jason, lindsey, and shelby had a 8 hour layover in denver and since well...we live here now...awesome! it was SO good to see them, talk, laugh all over again. some of our favorite memories of last summer are with them;when they would come hang out, spend the night and we'd connect as new parents. what an encouraging, GREAT weekend we had!

shelby and lane. both much more mobile than 8 months ago! everything about them being together was FUN! the stairs, books, toys, pacifiers, carseats (well...only for a little while), eating, just all around cuteness!
