whirlwind.
we're still recovering from a whirlwind of a weekend. we drove to vance's counin kenna's wedding in south dakota. 22 hours of driving in (less than) 48 hours...with a one year old. i always dread driving more than i actually should. lane did fantastic, sure there were moments of him crying and him trying to push the latch on his car seat to get out, but everything considered, we are proud and happy to say we did it. one thing that TOTALLY helped was we met vance's parents, ryan, and grandma half way and then all drove together. lane loved getting all the more attention and they loved giving it to him. we're SO glad we went to the wedding! always good to see family you rarely get to see.

baby.
so i haven't "blogged" much about little baby. not on purpose, it just hasn't come up. it's official...we are in love, again! we had an ultrasound monday and have been starring at the pictures ever since. a little baby, our baby! this pregnancy has been so different than with lane. it came as a surprise and has been flying by. i am starting to feel good and with lane there was probably only 8 minutes of morning sickness. heart rate has been much, much higher than lane. but a lot of things are the same...baby is a kicker like big brother. i can't eat enough oranges. baby is in the same position that lane was always in. every morning around 8:30, this little baby gives me a few strong kicks, just as lane is normally getting up too. it's starting to be more and more real. we are going to have another baby in our home. we met with a doula the other day, the big day is going to be here soon. thanksgiving, christmas, new years, baby!
we had our "big" ultrasound monday morning. thankfully grandma kay was in town and was able to watch lane during the appointment. sorry to everyone, baby is still a SURPRISE!! baby was SO cute, kept his(i have to say 'him' just because with lane i don't know anything girlie anymore) little arms right by his face the whole time. loves those hands! baby was 13oz, so small! (lane was 15oz at this appt) baby was happy, healthy, and kicking around like crazy.
we honestly have 20 more pictures, it was hard to choose...

right after the ultrasound, we were in the room waiting to meet with the doctor. vance and i were giddy about all the pictures, instantly comparing the little features to lane's. the doctor came in and said "your baby is healthy but" we weren't expecting a 'but' at all. we froze and stayed frozen for a while. baby's umbilical cord has one artery while it should have two. we went to a high risk ob today and they reconfirmed the diagnosis but also reconfirmed the baby looks very healthy. sometimes having a single artery umbilical cord leads to other 'problems' but none of them seem to be evident with our little baby. so, we will take it month by month. we will get an ultrasound every month to measure growth. continue to pray for healthy growth! we know our baby is healthy today and we know we are in good hands and above all this baby is in God's hands. it amazes me during these ultrasounds that GOD has formed this PERSON inside of me. all the bones, organs, muscles they are all working together but even more, this baby already has a personality, a heart to give&receive love, and is God's special design. and i get to be his/her mommy:)

zoo.
the denver zoo was having a free day so lane and i had a little outing. i figured it was a pretty safe way to go to the zoo, if he hated it, we'd leave. but...he LOVED it! we strolled around, looking at animals for 4 hours...without a single complaint by either of us. it was one of those mornings that my heart was just overflowing for our little man, just wanted to soak him up, so i did. it was a fun day!
not so sure of the elephants. in fact, didn't really like them at all.

"oooh. oooh." ducks ducks!!

his favorite. the little birds came right to him.

love the view i have.

picture time.

when we got home, i let lane run around (nearly) naked. he must have been chilly.

hate to say it denver, but you've got nothing on henry doorly, but thanks for a great morning!
