just call me mrs dugger.

no, i'm not pregnant but i did do something that they (the dugger family) do. years back vance and i were watching their show and they were making homemade laundry detergent. vance thought it was an ingenious idea but i on the other hand said i would never ever ever do that, a total waste of time. well, never say never. too often it seems like its time to buy more laundry detergent for....twenty dollars!!! there has got to be something more cost effective so, here i am, doing something i once thought was ridiculous.

i followed this recipe...
2 cups borax
1 bar fels naptha soap finely grated
2 cups washing soda
1/2 cup oxyclean
-the original recipe calls for FELS NAPTHA soap. i used ivory soap, for some reason the fact that (fels naptha) is yellow freaked me out...maybe i'll try it next time.

and i did a whole batch for about TWO DOLLARS! we've been using it for about 2 weeks and have yet to be disappointed.
..and for some odd reason it felt very satisfying doing this. (who am i?!)

I just saw a post about this from Mck Mama, a blog I follow. I never thought I wouldn't do it, but thought it would be harder then it seems. Is it? Because if its not that hard or time consuming (and plus its cheap)... it might be an investment worth making! Good work!

This is something grandma Norma would do. She had so many skin allergies that she would always make organic food etc. She would be proud. But even more she would be proud of your little guys.

Sorry....she would also be very proud of her red-headed grand-daugher and son-in-law.

You go, girl! I made laundry soap several times. I SHOULD start again, it is cheaper and better! So do you have any quilts in the works? Would love to connect with you and your boys again...gotta make up an excuse and just do it! We are hoping to go get lost in the corn maze this weekend...have you been to corn mazes? We love them, kinda something we look forward too! Once we went to Anderson Farms in Longmont, and we got soooo lost, it took us over four hours to get out! We laugh about it NOW...not so funny the last hour of being lost. The boys were GRUMPY! Anyway, let find an excuse and get together soon!
Hugs,
Suzi
